I Think AlDub You...

PROLOGUE

I have never been a fan of ANY Pinoy love team. EVER! And I will bet, even my closest friends will attest for that. For the past 2.5 decades, I am all about Korean and Japanese Drama (not to mention Taiwanese Drama, as well). It was only 3 months ago when I got really hooked watching KalyeSerye. It all started when I saw in my FB wall that a certain actress collapsed in one of KS episodes. I got curious as to what really happened. I then searched the net and began my quest to watch from Day 1 of KS. I was in denial at first thinking that I am not addicted to watching the show, but yes, it got me HOOKED. I even saved replay sites in my bookmark so that after work, I can just watch the reruns.

ACT

Then, just a few weeks ago, I decided to join a group. I even got too excited and kept on pestering the admins to add me up. Now, I am a proud member of an AlDub|Maiden Nation group.
Recalling from my experience, KS has indeed become a phenomenal success. From the accidental meet-up of Alden and Maine to Tamang Panahon (and what it is now). All of us got hooked from a simple reason... LOVE. Many of us would and could relate to their love story. Many of us have experienced love in all different angles. From the joy of getting to know each other to saying goodbye to a love that cannot be. Of course all of us is expecting for a happy ending... or should we say, FOREVER.

KalyeSerye has changed my regular tv viewing habit. Before, I don't even switch on the TV because I'm too busy watching foreign drama series in my pc. My Twitter account that I barely open and use became my newsfeed. And from following 30+ people before (which are mostly my Korean & Japanese friends and sites) suddenly blew up to 200+, in order for me to be updated with KS when I'm at work. And just a few days ago, I changed my office monitor to lcd-pc. Whenever possible (when boss is not around) I would change the set-up of my monitor to TV mode so I can watch KS.

KalyeSerye, Eat Bulaga and AlDub has truly changed everyone's taste when it comes to watching a noontime variety show. And or course, on how we look at the actors and actresses playing the roles. Alden, Maine, JoWaPao became role models of every Filipino (and foreigners) all over the world. They showed us that regardless of age, we can still connect to the character being portrayed. All the advice and (almost) forgotten Filipino culture came back to life.

If we think of it... KalyeSerye made us realized that there are Filipino cultures that has been long forgotten or have not been put in practice for a long time. Though already being modified to our century now, the essence of it is still intact.

EPILOGUE

Although there is no assurance as to when KS would end, what they have imparted to us will always remain. And in case we again start to forget our Filipino ways, we can always look back to all the learning of the show. And in case you are wondering why you are hooked... don't ask yourself. We all are. Just enjoy watching.
