The FANmily... A Family

It actually took a while before I can think of how I'm going to start this blog. My mind went completely blank. Instead, flashbacks of how I started and what has become of me now after joining a fans club came to mind. So let me share my point of view regarding being a "fan" (myself)  in a fans club (but hey, I'm not forcing you to agree with me. This is all me).

Before I became part of the AlDub|MaiDen Nation, I was once a silent, secret fan. I exclude myself from the whole AlDub Nation "society". In short, I consider myself a crazy, loner fan giggling all by myself in the house.

While browsing my Twitter, I saw pictures of fans club doing different projects under AlDub's name. As a former "super active" volunteer, it made me think... what if I join an AlDub group? And since I have some free time, I can put it in a good use. So I searched for various groups that allow individuals to join their group. I filled up lots of different forms and waited for replies. Days passed but there was no single reply from any of them. I was a bit impatient (naiinip). I said to myself, the first group who'll add me will be my group. More days passed and I became impatient (naiinip) again, so I decided to direct message one of  the admins of a group. Fortunate enough, she replied and added me afterwards. I was excited for no reason at all. It made my heart beat fast... probably because I can get out from the house, meet new friends and to top it all... I can finally help others again.

I became part of the AlDub|MaiDen Nation fans club. A few weeks later, another group added me, a group that is solely in support of Maine Mendoza and another from a group solely for Alden Richards... Oh, I remember... there was a group who asked me if I am already a member of another group, I said yes and apologized that I have to revoke my application in their club.

When I first joined the Get Together of the group, I was in total shock. Warm smiles and friendly faces welcomed me... I even thought they already knew each other for a long time. To my surprise, it was also their first to meet one another. This made me realized that I ended up in a wonderful group.

Before, I was so hesitant to come to the Get Together. I thought people in the club are like a bunch of stalkers or group of people who does crazy things just to be noticed by the KalyeSerye actors... but I end up eating my thoughts. Mind you, AlDub|Maiden Nation members are professionals. There are engineers, doctors, CEOs, entrpreneurs and so on. They are educated members who admire and support Alden and Maine (plus JOWAPAO and EB Cast). They are ordinary people coming together to achieve a goal.

Many of us would still think that joining a fans club is a waste of time. In reality, it is not. It may be an escape goat for others from boredom but in reality, it is more than what meets the eye. More than the excitement of seeing your idols... more than the screaming of meeting them in flesh.
It is the about the people you meet. The people you connect with, The people that in the long run will be part of your life's story.

Months passed and I became active in many of their projects and events. I met a lot of people... good and warm-hearted people. We became friends. We became a family.

So you see, being in a fans club has benefits, too. And I am just as blessed and lucky to have met a group that thinks about not just the idols but the members as well.
